BE ALERT
We covered Matthew 24:42-44. What does it mean to be on the alert?
It states we are to be on alert since we do not know when the Lord is coming. Notice in vs 44 it states for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will. Thus Jesus is going to come when you do not think He will. So all who think they know when He is coming is most likely wrong. So it should be even more obvious we need to be on the alert for His coming at any time.

Change-Doing versus Trying
Preacher RichD and Bobbie talk about the difference between doing versus trying when it comes to changing. In Proverbs 21:5 it states The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance, but everyone who is hasty comes to poverty.
Diligent: having or showing care and conscientiousness in one's work or duties.
A person who is diligent in changing, diligent in overcoming an addiction will do whatever it takes to stay sober instead of trying to stay sober.
